Finding Hidden Gems

- about-us

For the last two years, we have proactively sought out charities with the potential for transformational change run by leadership teams that combine humility, resilience, and a willingness to embrace uncertainty. We take a hands-on approach - reading widely, attending conferences, and talking with peers, experts, and other charities. Sometimes, a lead comes from a thoughtful question or an unexpected conversation that sparks our curiosity.
As a sector-agnostic funder, we don’t limit ourselves to specific areas. We evaluate charities based on their unique contributions to their sector, using a clear pre-screening and scoring checklist with both quantitative and qualitative criteria. Our team engage in deep research and, alongside internal and external peers, discusses the potential of each opportunity thoroughly. When a charity aligns with our criteria, we meet with its leadership.
Yet, as a small team granting proactively across sectors, we know there are inspiring charities beyond our usual networks.
So to widen our universe, we’re excited to launch our new Expression of Interest Form, a six-month trial to connect with charities we might not otherwise find.
Focus on Small-to-Medium: Charities registered in England and Wales with an annual income of £100,000 to £2 million, supporting those often overlooked by other funders.
Cause-Agnostic Flexibility: Charities that occupy a unique position in their sector, have a proposition that is remarkably different, not just marginally better, or that bridge a gap between private and public interests.
Growth Potential: Charities that are scalable – either internally or externally, across regions, sectors or focus areas.
We understand how time-consuming funding applications can be. Our streamlined process respects the resource constraints of charities, making it quick and easy to put your organisation’s name forward. The work is done swiftly in the background, using the Atlas Platform by Charizone. If you represent a charity registered in England and Wales and the above resonates with you, then follow our two-step submission process.
Step 1: Enter your charity number and charity email address. You will receive an immediate answer as to whether your charity has passed or failed our financial thresholds. This should take you less than one minute.
Step 2: If the charity passes, you will be invited to share an up-to-date list of your board. This second step should only take 5-10 minutes of your time.
We can then begin our qualitative research process. To maximise your chances, please ensure that your organisation's records on the Charity Commission database are accurate and up to date.
Please note that while we can’t give feedback, we hope this process will nonetheless open doors to new partnerships without the complexity of the long application form.
